2018 Montana Seed Show winners by event

There were a number of competitions during the annual Montana Seed Show in Harlem. Here is a list of the barebones details—events and winners as listed in the program for the Saturday night banquet.

Educational Display Booths: Youth Division Groups: 1st place, Big Flat 4-H; 2nd place, White Pine 4-H and 3rd place, Valley Clovers 4-H and North Harlem Colony School. Individual Division Groups: 1st place, Makayla Renfro; 2nd place, Daniel Rasmussen; 3rd place, Angelina Toth and 4th place, Andrew Rasmussen. Overall Sweepstakes Winner: Big Flat 4-H.

Commercial Booths: For Profit winner was Dave Chinadle, Big Equipment.

Wood Working: Youth Division Best of Show, Alyssa Gruszie. Youth Computer Generated, Daniel Rasmussen and Cord Schneider. Adult Best of Show, Small Item: Ralph Cross and large item: Darius Hofer.

Art: Adult Best of Show, Bob Williams and Youth Best of Show, Hunter Gray.

Quilts: Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice, Carla Becker.

Car Show: People’s Choice, Car and Truck, Robert Bear and Daniel Dahl. People’s Choice Toys, Daniel Rasmussen.

Wool: Adult Purebred, Pete Cornell and Adult Commercial, Mary Lou Butcher. Youth Division Purebred, Allyssa Schoen and Youth Division Commercial, Tyler Schoen.

Agricultural: Youth: Forage Rosette, Gus Buck. Adult Pulse Crops: Clearview Ag, Inc.; Adult Cereal Grains, Spring Wheat: Northern Seed. Adult Forage: Fred and Sandy Miller. Adult Silage: Rod Becker. Best of Show Trophy: Northern Seed Spring Wheat.

Beef Cook-off: Nissen Angus won the Judges’ Choice and Bobbi Klingaman won Peoples’ Choice.

Breads: Youth: Oven Baked, 1st place, Ashlea Schroder; 100% Whole Wheat, 1st place, Ashlea Schroder and Bread Machine-White, 1st place, Angelina Toth.

Adult Division: Oven Baked, 1st place, Tracy Reed; 100% Whole Wheat, 1st place, Jasmine Powell; Bread Machine-White, 1st place, Sheena Pursley and Bread Machine-Wheat Combo, 1st place, Amanda Powell. Overall Sweepstakes Winner was Jasmine Powell.

Pies: Youth Pie Finalists: 1st place, Andrew Rasmussen, with a rhubarb/cherry pie; 2nd place, Hannah Richman, with an apple/peach pie and 3rd place, Angelina Toth, with a blueberry/cherry.

Adult Pie Finalists: 1st, place, Jennifer Strzelczyk, from Malta with a Pina Colada pie; 2nd place, Sandi Boardman, Chinook; 3rd place, Gerry Lenhardt, Chinook and 4th place, Jasmine Powell, Havre. Boardman and Lenhardt are a mother-daughter combination.
