Chinook Lions Club sets annual Old-Timers' Dinner for April 15

Doris Hofeldt is shown at last year's Old-Timers' Dinner surrounded by several balloon sculptures. This year Chef Doug Mitchell will be cooking again and, hopefully, the balloon sculptor will be back to entertain diners. The event is Sunday, April 15 at 4pm, at the Chinook Senior Center.

The Chinook Lions Club will host its annual Old-Timers' Dinner on Sunday, April 15 at the Chinook Senior Center. The event, which started sometime in the early 1980's, is open to any self- selected old-timer who would like to attend as a guest. Long time Lion Jack Mattingly said a few years ago, "We've never tried to specifically define what constitutes an old-timer. If you think you might be an old-timer, you qualify." There is no charge.

Lions say the old-timers' dinner first began when a local teacher made a recording of reflections by Severin Sivertsen on Sivertsen's 100th birthday. Oth...
