Summer Reading registration is now open for children ages preschool through grade 6. “Libraries Rock!” Family Fun Night is TONIGHT from 6:30-8:00. Children must be accompanied by at least one parent/caregiver. We will have stories, games, crafts, and snacks!

Summer reading programs begin Tues., June 5, 10 A.M. for preschool children and Thurs., June 7, 1 P.M. for children grades K-6. Story Hour will not meet on Fridays during the summer months.

Adults are invited to participate in the Summer Reading “Letter by Letter” game during the months of June, July and August. Pick up your game sheets at the library. You may win a $50 gift card!

If you have read your May Book Challenge book about an animal contact the library so your name may be entered into the drawing for a gift certificate from a local business. The Book Challenge for June is to read a book that contains your passion.

The library will be hosting Musical Movie Nights every Thursday in June at 5 P.M. On June 7 we will show the movie “Coco,” rated PG and lasting 105 minutes. Preschool children must be accompanied by an adult. Lego Club time changes to 4:00 P.M. on Thursdays in June.

A new novel by Elizabeth George is “The Punishment She Deserves.” In the quiet, historic town of Ludlow, England, a respected local deacon is accused of a serious crime. While in police custody Ian Druitt is found dead. Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers and Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley are called in to investigate. Although the evidence points to a suicide, Barbara feels like she is missing something. After taking a closer look, the residents of Ludlow all seem to have something to hide.

The new Ali Reynolds mystery by J.A. Jance is “Duel to the Death.” Stuart Ramsey has taken down the man who killed his best friend. Ramsey believes the case is closed until he discovers he has been left a multimillion-dollar fortune in Bitcoins by Frigg, an AI program created by the killer. Stu seeks the help of Ali Reynolds to take down Frigg for good. Gracialla Miramar, the right hand woman of the dangerous leader of a drug cartel, is also after Frigg.

New nonfiction selections include “Faith” by Jimmy Carter. In this work President Jimmy Carter reflects “how faith has sustained him in happiness and disappointment.” “Rocket Men” by Robert Kurson tells the “daring odyssey of Apollo 8 and the astronauts who made man’s first journey to the moon.”

Elizabeth J. Church has written the novel “All the Beautiful Girls.” When Lily Decker was eight years old she lost her parents and sister in an auto accident. The only place she can find solace is in her dancing. After winning a scholarship to local dance academy Lily changes her name to Ruby Wilde and heads for the glamour of Las Vegas. There she finds work as a Vegas showgirl. Although it appears she has found success in Sin City, Ruby “dances through her sadness to find connection, freedom, and ... herself.”

“Fade to Black” is a Doug Brock thriller by David Rosenfelt. New Jersey state police officer Doug Brock is rebuilding his life after getting shot in the line of duty.

When a fellow member of an amnesia support group approaches him with a scrapbook of a murder victim Doug agrees to help reopen a cold case. When he realizes he has a personal connection to the case Doug must face questions about his past.
