Thanks to all the children who participated in the “Libraries Rock!” summer reading program. Reading record sheets must be turned in by Aug. 3. The grand prize drawing will take place Aug. 10. The “Letter by Letter” game for adults continues through the month of August.

The Book Challenge for August is to read a true crime book. Contact the library with the title of the book you read for the July Book Challenge.

James Grippano has written “A Death in Live Oak.” The death of Jamal Cousin, president of the black fraternity of a major Florida university, sets off a firestorm. The president of the primarily white fraternity, Mark Towson, is accused of the crime. Towson’s defense attorney faces racial and political tensions as well as sensational media as he must deal with the evidence against his client that seems overwhelming.

“The 49th Mystic” is a new novel by Ted Dekker. In the first of a two-volume saga Rachelle, a blind girl, undergoes a procedure to restore her sight. When the surgery goes wrong she begins to dream of another world so real Earth seems to be the dream she has when sleeping. Rachelle must fulfill the prophecy to find five ancient seals before she is destroyed by powerful enemies.

Former President Bill Clinton and James Patterson have teamed up to author the novel “The President Is Missing.” The world is in shock when the president disappears. But the reason he is missing is much worse than anyone could imagine.

A new nonfiction book is “Montana Women from the Ground Up.” In this collection readers will meet “Montana women passionate about caring for their land and determined to make the lifestyle their own.”

Stephen King’s latest is “The Outsider.” The corpse of an eleven-year-old boy is found in Flint City’s town park. Fingerprints, DNA, and eyewitness reports all point to Terry Maitland, one of the town’s most popular citizens. Maitland coaches Little League, teaches English and is a husband and father of two. Detective Ralph Anderson seems to have an ironclad case but Maitland has an alibi. How can two opposing stories be true? King delivers tension and suspense as only he can.

Other new titles include “No One Ever Asked” by Katie Ganshert, “Shattered Mirror” an Eve Duncan novel by Iris Johansen, and “The Dark Angel” by Elly Griffiths.
