Chinook finishes 3rd overall at State Swim Meet in Conrad, Harlem 3rd in Class B

The Chinook Lions 9-10 Midget Boys 100 Meter Free Relay capped off a season for the ages winning a state championship in the event. The boys set a pool record in every pool they swam in this season and shattered the state federation record in Conrad with a time 1:04.98. The quartet also had plenty of success in the 100 Meter Medley relay as well winning a state title with a time of 1:18.53.
The summer swim season came to a close this past weekend in Conrad at the Montana Federation of Swimmers State Swim meet.
22 Teams were on hand to compete for individual and team championships. The team race was broken down into four classes, AA, A, B and C. Individual swimmers competed against the field.
The Chinook Lions swim team racked up 533 points to finish third overall with two high point winners. Harlem finished third in Class B with 171 points.
The Chinook Midget Boys 100 Meter Freestyle relay completed their dominating performance in the pool with a state championship and a new federation state record to go along with it.
The team consists of Daniel Tilleman, Brockton Elliot, Kohen Sullivan and Nathaniel Plainfeather and have established a new pool record every week this season. At the state swim meet in Conrad they won with a time of 1:04.98 breaking their own record set earlier in the season.
The quartet also claimed a state championship in the 100 Meter Medley Relay, winning with a time of 1:18.53.
Daniel and Brockton turned in outstanding individual efforts in the pool as well, sharing the 9-10 boys High Point.
Daniel won individual gold in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :32.56. He added another win in the 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:15.13. Both wins established new Conrad pool records. Tilleman also finished fourth in the 50 Meter Breaststroke.
Brockton earned a state championship in the 50 Meter Butterfly with a time of :38.19. He also won the 100 Meter Individual Medley in 1:32.74 to go along with a fourth place finish in the 50 Meter Freestyle.
Rachel Stephens was a two time state champion for the Lions winning the eight and under girls 25 Meter Freestyle in :18.65 and the 50 Meter Freestyle in :42.76.
Katie Tilleman won a state title in the 9-10 girls 50 Meter Backstroke touching the wall in :42.36 to win gold. Tilleman also finished third in the 50 Meter Breaststroke and second in the 50 Meter Freestyle.
The 11-12 junior girls 200 Meter Freestyle team of Anna Terry, Morgan Friede, Hallie Neibauer and Britton Elliot became state champions after winning with a time of 2:16.01.
Benton Elliot took home the title in the 13-14 boys 50 Meter Freestyle completing the two lengths of the pool in just :27.34. Benton also finished second in 100 Meter Freestyle.
Erik Pula, Tyler Schoen, Reese Elliot and Benton Elliot took home top honors in the 13-14 boys 200 Meter Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:56.72. They also teamed up to finish third in the 200 Meter Medley Relay.
Bryce Elliot had a fantastic swim at the state meet earning a trio of second place finishes. Bryce was second in the 25 Meter Freestyle with a time of :18.83, second in the 25 Meter Breaststroke in 24:72 and second in the 50 Meter Freestyle clocking in at :39.95.
Britton Elliot was also superb at the state meet finishing with three seconds herself. Britton touched the wall in :31.68 in the 50 Meter Freestyle. She was runner up in the 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:11.88 and the 50 Meter Backstroke in :39.43.
Lane Hassler finished second in the 11-12 boys 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :29.63. Hasler was also third in the 100 Meter Freestyle and fourth in the 50 Meter Breaststroke.
The 200 Meter Freestyle relay team of Jackson Nordboe, Jacob Metcalf, Dentin DePriest and Lane Hasler combined to finish second in the 11-12 Junior Boys division with a time of 2:22.18.
The Harlem swim team received some stellar performances in the pool as well.
Andrew Rasmussen capped his season with a state title in the 200 Meter Individual Medley winning by seven hundredths of a second in the 200 Meter Individual Medley with a time of 2:38.13. Rasmussen also finished second in the 200 Meter Freestyle and the 100 Meter Backstroke.
Lillian Cochran earned a pair of third place finishes in the eight and under 25 Meter and 50 Meter Freestyle events. Marie Hogan was third in the 11-12 girls 50 Meter Backstroke and Alaynee Hawley finished third in the 13-14 girls 200 Meter Freestyle.
