Harlem American Lutheran Church Bazaar

October 31, 2018

The Fall dinner and Bazaar held at the American Lutheran Church in Harlem had fine weather and fine fellowship. Every year, it seems like a long time, we have had a raffle to support our LWR projects.

Our church does a quilt project, and three kit projects The quilts tops are made from new and donated material, the batting and backing are new also. Ben Franklin in Havre has donated a box or two a year of yardage to use in these quilts, we are grateful to Todd and Sherri Obrecht for their kindness.

We also put together Baby Care kits, for mothers in countries that live in poverty. the personal Care kits also play an important part in family health especially where there are typhoons and other disasters where folks are left with nothing. The school kits are assembled by members and our grandkids, for children who live in chronic poverty and who’s parents are forced to make difficult choices, food for the family or school.

Our people spend the year collecting items for the kits but some of the items need to be new such as towels, soap, scissors tablets, diapers and baby shirts. You may think old towels etc. are good enough, but shabby items will not get though customs and besides that, these are our new gifts to others just as Jesus makes us new.

Those of you who so generously bought tickets have helped us, and I thank you for that, but you may want to know who won the items, a chocolate candy basket, donated by Sally O’Leary and Jayne Morrow was won by Louise Nissen, the Large basket made by Libby Kuntz with many wonderful things was won by Frank Archambeau and the quilt was won by Kim Faulkinberry. All were happy when they received their winnings.
