Montana Clinics Working Together to Increase Health Care Services for Communities

CHINOOK, MT. November 1, 2018 – As of November 1, 2018 Sweet Medical Center has officially partnered with Bighorn Valley Health Center! As announced in September, the local boards of both health centers determined that a merger would be beneficial for the patients, employees and residents of the regions served. The merger will result in less duplication of the administrative and compliance requirements of the industry so that more focus can be placed on improving patient care and health outcomes.

Since the announcement, Central Montana Community Health Center (CMCHC) in Lewistown also decided to join the organization, so the community of care will cover even more of the state for patient convenience. In the months to come, SMC patients will notice a change in the clinic’s billing and records system. This change will provide the benefit of expanding the footprint of their clinic so that when traveling in central and eastern Montana, patients can seek medical care and their records will be seamlessly and securely accessible. The expanded organization now includes BVHC locations in Hardin, Ashland and Colstrip; One Health in Miles City; CMCHC in Lewistown and SMC in Chinook and Harlem, plus all outreach programs and services supporting numerous eastern Montana counties and communities.

Chief Operating Officer, Dr. David Mark said, “What Montana most needs and loves about SMC, CMCHC and BVHC will not change. Each clinic will continue to offer all existing programs and services and with each other’s help, will expand those services over time. The merger creates a single, regional organization that improves patient care and health outcomes through clinical integration, increases access to care and services and positions us to meet the demands of a rapidly changing health care system.”

Sweet Medical Center is a nonprofit, Patient Centered, Federally Qualified Health Center Serving EVERYONE and Empowering People to Live Healthy Lives.
