Triangle Communications Announces February Grant and Scholarship Deadlines

January 16, 2019

Triangle Communications supports area youth by providing educational programs and scholarship opportunities. In the spirit of communication, Triangle announces two upcoming deadlines of February 1 and February 15.

The Triangle Communications Youth Club/Organization Technology Grant program offers monetary support to youth clubs/organizations in the Triangle service area. The deadline to apply for these grants is February 1.

According to Anne Booth, Economic Development Specialist for Triangle Communications, groups like 4-H, FFA, BPA, FCCLA, DECA, and Boys and Girls Club are eligible to apply, as long as the majority of club, chapter, or organization members reside within the Triangle Communication’s service area.

Up to $500 Grants are available, and if awarded, funds can be used for Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) related projects. Interested groups should apply online at http://www.itstriangle.com/education-support/youth-club-organization-technology-grant where applicants will be asked not only to provide basic information like the name of the club/organization, the local chapter’s location, and the advisor/leader’s name but to describe the project the organization wishes to implement and how the funds will be used.

The February 15 deadline affects the Foundations for Rural Services (FRS) Scholarship application, which is a two-part process. Although FRS scholarship applications aren’t due until March 1, the required endorsement must be requested from Triangle by February 15 to allow time for the request to be processed and mailed back to the student to be included with the actual application.

In Step 1, the scholarship process requires the student to include an Endorsement from Triangle Communications. Before February 15, applicants should go online to https://www.itstriangle.com/education-support/scholarships and complete the Endorsement Application.

Once this is accomplished, applicants should proceed to Step 2, completing the FRS Scholarship Application. This endorsement must be enclosed with the applicant’s scholarship application, and both parts must be postmarked before March 1 and mailed directly to the FRS.
