Harlem Library

May 15, 2019

It’s time to start getting excited about Summer Reading at the Harlem Public Library! Our theme this year is “A Universe of Stories,” and it’s all about space. We have something for readers of all ages.

We will kick off our Summer Reading Program with a Family Fun Night on May 29th, from 6:00-7:00 pm. Children from Preschool-Junior High and their families are welcome to attend. Each child must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver.

Children ages birth-13 may begin signing up for the program May 28th. Registration can be done here at the library, via email at harlemlib@live.com, or through our Facebook page. When children return their Reading Record sheet for the first time, their name will be entered into a drawing for a $15 gift certificate to Sue’s Deli.

For children ages birth-preschool, we have the Read To Me Program. We meet weekly on Tuesdays at 10:00 am from June 4th-July 23rd. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Parents/caregivers may track books they read to their child.

For children grades K-6, we have Readers Club. We will meet weekly on Thursdays at 1:00 pm from June 6th-July 25th. Children track every book read.

Children in Preschool-Grade 1 will get a small prize and their name in a drawing for a grand prize after every 10 books read/read to them. Children grades 2 and up will get a small prize and their names in a separate drawing for every 3 books read.

For readers ages 13 and up (teens/adults), we will also have a program. No need to register! Just stop by the library and fill out an entry ticket with your name and number for every book you read. All entries must be entered by Friday, August 2nd. We will merge all tickets into a single pot, and draw one lucky winner. The more you read, the better your chances of winning.

As far as grand prizes go, we have been very fortunate with local business and personal donations, and will be giving out tablets as grand prizes this year!

We also have Lego Club, which takes place every Thursday at 4:30 pm. All ages are welcome, but if your child is not in school yet, they must be accompanied by an adult.

If you have any questions, please contact us at 353-2712, through our email at harlemlib@live.com, or our Facebook page.
