The Chinook Sugarbeeter girls golf team has had a very successful 2019 season. After qualifying five for the State C Tournament in Seeley, the girls were looking to once again bring home hardware.

The girls performed very well on the links finishing second in the team competition and had three girls earn All-State recognition for finishing in the top 15 in the individual tournament.

The 'Beeter girls included senior Ashley MacLeod,, sophomore Hailey Bell, sophomore Crystal Hofer, junior Alyssa Gruszie and senior Kendra McMaster as the alternate.

After a practice round on Monday the team took to the course Tuesday morning with sights set on bringing home plenty of hardware.

After 18 Holes Bell led the contingent with a 103, going out in 51 and coming in in 52. MacLeod was right behind recording a 56-51 107, while Hofer was five shots back with a 56-56 112. The girls compiled a team score of 322 to firmly place themselves in second.

Wednesday afternoon Hofer played a fantastic round soaring up the leader board along the way. Hofer went out in 51 and matched that nine hole effort with another 51 coming in to finish with a 102. Her two day score of 214 earned her a sixth place finish at the State C Tournament.

Chinook sophomore Crystal Hofer turned in an All-State effort at the two day State C Golf Tournament in Seeley, Montana. Hofer finished 6th in the individual tournament shooting a 112-102 214 to earn All-state honors.

For the 'Beeter boys it was a learning experience as three made the trip. Senior Chase Moxley was at the State C for the first time as were sophomore Ethan MacLeod and freshman Braden Eoff.

Moxley played well, especially in his first appearance at the State Tournament. On Tuesday he shot a 53-55 108 and followed that up on Wednesday with a 56-59 115. McLeod recorded rounds of 65-56 121 and 49-46 95, while eoff posted scores of 62-62 124 and 63-78 141 in his first state tournament experience.

The 'Beeters will return six next spring with State Tournament experience and the girls will surely look to be in contention again as a team and individually. The boys will learn from their experience and look to improve next spring.

Congratulations to all our state qualifiers.
