Buckles and Bragging Rights Will Be Up for Grabs

June 19, 2019

Although organizers of the Annual Blaine County Kid's Rodeo have released a Save the Date announcement for their rodeo event, they would also like area youth to be aware of the rapidly approaching registration deadline of June 24.

Entry forms are available on the Blaine County Kid's Rodeo Facebook page, or they can be picked up at various area businesses: EZ Mart in Harlem, The Blaine County Journal News Opinion office or Bear Paw Livestock in Chinook, The Kwik Stop in Fort Belknap, Norman's Ranch and Sportswear in Havre, and Westside Self Service in Malta.

Rodeo contestants can enter in one of three categories: Senior (ages 14-18), Junior (ages 9-13) and Mini Ages (4-8). For seniors, events include chute dogging, barrel racing, calf roping, breakaway roping, goat tying, and pole bending. Many of the same events are available for juniors, who can compete in barrel racing, breakaway roping, pole bending, goat tying, flag racing, or steer riding with helmets and vests. The littles will entertain the crowd with goat ribbon untying, barrel racing, flag racing, and sheep riding. All ages and genders are also encouraged to find a partner for the team roping event.

Entry forms must be notarized and fees paid by June 24. Furthermore, to verify that a contestant is 18 years or younger on the day of the rodeo, birth certificates are also required of any youth who have not previously entered the Blaine County Kids' Rodeo.

The event will take place at the Blaine County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, July 3 with a start time of 1:00 p.m. According to lead organizer, Courtney Bell, bragging rights and buckles will be up for grabs at the Blaine County Kids' Rodeo.

Although Bell wished to thank those who already support the rodeo, she is still looking for buckle prize sponsors and additional rodeo sponsors. "Thank you all for your generosity for answering the call for sponsorships for the kids' rodeo. We appreciate all of you," Bell said.

Anyone wishing to purchase a buckle or to become a rodeo sponsor whose donations will help defray the cost of rodeo production should contact Bell by calling 357-3166 in the evening.

"Come join the fun at the Blaine County Kids' Rodeo on July third. Montana Chic Photography will be there taking and selling pictures of contestants again this year," Bell added.
