Summer Reading Programs will continue through the month of July. Kids who are reading and turning in time logs will have until August 9th to finish. We will draw for prizes on the 9th. The reader with the most hours will win an after-hours pizza party. We have fun programs and events for children of all ages. We have computers available for taking Accelerated Reader tests for Chinook schools and Zurich.

We have a nice selection of novels available this week. Zane Bigelow grew up in a beautiful, perfectly kept house in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Strangers and even Zane’s own aunt across the lake see his parents as a successful surgeon and his stylish wife, making appearances at their children’s ballet recitals and baseball games. Only Zane and his sister know the truth, until one brutal night finally reveals cracks in the facade, and Zane escapes for college without a thought of looking back. Years later, Zane returns to his hometown determined to reconnect with the place and people that mean so much to him, despite the painful memories. As he resumes life in the colorful town, he meets a gifted landscape artist named Darby, who is on the run from ghosts of her own. Together they will have to teach each other what it means to face the past and stand up for the ones they love in “Undercurrents” by Nora Roberts. “Evvie Drake Starts Over” by Linda Holmes is a heartfelt debut about the unlikely relationship between a young woman who’s lost her husband and a major league pitcher who’s lost his game. “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine” by Gail Honeyman is a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick and soon to be a motion picture. Deeply buried secrets make for a disturbing family reunion in “I’ll Never Tell” by Catherine McKenzie. This tantalizing novel of psychological suspense was named one of the Hottest Books of Summer by Goodreads.

Are you planning a trip and thinking about ways to make the miles more tolerable? We have downloadable audio and eBooks available to our patrons with MontanaLibrary2Go. There are many books appropriate for the whole family. You need to download the Libby app to the device you will be using, this can be a phone, Kindle or laptop. You will need your library card number and an Internet connection to download the books. Once a book is downloaded, you don’t need an Internet connection to listen or read. Patrons have the title for 2 weeks and then it is automatically returned. Each library card can have 5 titles checked out at a time. More information and instructions are available on our website. If you need your library card number, just give us a call or come in to the library. If you have problems, staff is available to walk you through the process.

There is always something going on at the library. Check us out on Facebook or look us up on our website at http:www.blainecountylibrary.org for up to date information about what’s going on!
