Blaine County Library

March 4, 2020

Free People Reading Freely Book Club will meet Monday March 16th at 6:30 p.m. We will be discussing the book “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky. We have books available for checkout as well as an audio book. Everyone is welcome to join us. Monday March 16th will also be family movie day. We will be showing the movie Playing with Fire starting at 3:30 p.m. It is rated PG and runs for 95 minutes.

We are pleased to announce a new program at the library. “Move it at the Library” is a fitness program offered at many libraries across the nation. After reading about the program in the Great Falls Library, Ellen Savage contacted the staff and inquired about starting a program here. Ellen has been leading the aerobic exercise sessions Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 5:15 to 6:00 p.m. in the library meeting room. We are doing aerobic exercises, strength building, and flexibility. Everyone is welcome to join us. Don’t worry if you are not in great shape, we are all at different levels of physical fitness and you can work at your own pace.

Luck is finding the perfect book and during the month of March the display table will be full of green books. Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day all month and try your luck with a green book!

During the month of March we will be having a March Madness book sale. As many books as you can fit into a bag for only $1.00!

It’s that time again when we need to say thank you to patrons who have donated items or money to the library. A big thank you goes out to Mary Bahr, Pat and Donna Murdy, Dalton Heilig, Ellen Savage, Sami Powell, Patricia Hofeldt, Farideh Schmidtke, Ralph Cross and Steve Edwards. We appreciate your generous donations and support of the library.

Knives Out and Midway are two new movies ready for checkout this week.

“The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read (and Your Children Will be Glad That You Did)” by Phillipa Perry tells us what really matters and what behavior it is important to avoid--the vital dos and don’ts of parenting. Her approach begins with parents themselves and their psychological make-up and history--and how that in turn influences one’s parenting. Instead of mapping out the “perfect” plan, Perry offers a big-picture look at the elements that lead to good parent-child relationships.

New fiction ready for checkout this week includes: “More than We Remember” by Christina Nelson, “Last Day” by Luanne Rice, “Sweep out the Ashes” by Mary Clearman Blew and “Perfect Little Children” by Sophie Hannah.

There is always something going on at the library. Check us out on Facebook or look us up on our website at http: http://www.blainecountylibrary.org for up to date information about what’s going on!
