During this challenging chapter in education while we all navigate the obstacles imposed by the COVID-19 situation, Colleen Overcast, who teaches grades six through eight at Zurich School, wishes to credit a couple of students who are doing their best job: Elayna Adams of Harlem and Micah Conner of Chinook.

Elayna Adams in caught on camera during her teacher's drive-by assessment.

Students in grades 6-8 at Zurich School were given the assignment to build a scale model of the solar system. After working through the math for appropriate diameters and distances, they set to work with sidewalk chalk outside their homes.

Mrs. Overcast told her students that she would be doing a drive-by to assess their handiwork. "I was pleasantly surprised to see their accomplishments and to take photos," she reported. "Although the pictures do not accurately display their efforts, their smiles show the resilience in kids who know how to meet difficult times head on!"

Overcast also wished to recognize the families who are struggling in the distant world of teaching. "Hang on and know that YOU ARE APPRECIATED," she exclaimed.
