The library board will hold its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, September 23, 4:15 P.M. in the library meeting room.

Book Club discussions are held Mondays, 4 P.M via Skype at join.skype.com/OBq8EUM6IEwF or direct links can be found on our Website and Facebook page. We are reading “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek.”

Carly is hosting virtual Story Time every Tuesday at 10 A.M. via Facebook Live. Story Time is primarily for preschoolers but would be enjoyed by children of all ages!

The Book Challenge for September is to read a book written before you were born.

The library has decided to keep the free Wi-Fi on even during the hours we are closed to assist with the greater need for internet access now that schools and colleges are in session. The password may be obtained at the front desk during the hours we are open. Remember the library abides by copyright law and if there is any illegal activity using the library Wi-Fi this practice will be discontinued.

The handicapped entrance now has an automatic door opener for greater ease of access.

If you have need to access the internet and you do not have Wi-Fi available you may check out mobile hotspots at the library. These devices work using a cellular connection. They may be checked out for 14 days to registered patrons in good standing for at least one month prior to check out. These devices are great when traveling, for telehealth appointments, for distance learning, and for other internet needs. Call the library for more information.

Marisa de los Santos is the author of “I’d Give Anything.” In 1997 when Ginny Beale was eighteen a tragedy robs her of the things she cherishes most – her best friends, the boy she loves and even her adventurous spirit. Twenty years later she is leading a safe, predictable life married with a fifteen-year-old daughter living in her hometown. When her husband becomes involved in a scandal her life begins to crumble and a secret she’s kept since high school threatens to destroy any hope for the future.

“The Heirloom Garden” is by Viola Shipman. Iris Maynard lost her husband in WWII, her daughter to illness, and her reason to live. She has closed herself off from the world behind a high fence and now spends her time tending to her heirloom garden. Abby Peterson moves in next door with her husband traumatized from his service in Iraq and a daughter searching for stability. These two women united by loss and love of flowers discover how much life they have yet to live.

Emily Giffin has written “The Lies That Bind.” Cecily Gardner sits alone at a bar in New York’s East Village missing her life in the Midwest and wondering if she made a mistake to break up with her boyfriend. As she starts to dial his number, a guy on the barstool next to her says “Don’t do it-you’ll regret it.” This leads to a rebound relationship that shouldn’t happen as Grant is preparing to travel overseas. Then he goes missing in 9/11 and Cecily realizes she is not the only one searching for him.

Other new titles include the science fiction selection “The Angel of the Crows” by Katherine Addison, the second installation of Willamette Brides “The Way of Love” by Tracie Peterson, and the new Nora Roberts novel “”Hideaway.”
