White Pine 4-H Club completed a community service project in July by painting the flower boxes at the entrance of Zurich Park.

According to one of the club’s leaders, Bobbi Klingaman, twelve members gathered at the park, played on the park equipment for a while, painted the flower boxes, and finished out their work session with another play period.

“The group took a lot of pride and care in completing the task, and they all worked well together,” Klingaman said.

Other leaders of the club are Larry Klingaman, Jenny Buck, Emily Scofield, and Whitney Wicks. President of the club is Mya Berreth.

Karen Kleinjan said she was really pleased with the work that the youth had done. “In the fifteen years that I have been helping to care for the park, this is the first time that the pots have been painted that I know of,” she said.

Located approximately 1.5 miles north of U.S. Highway 2, Zurich Park has six to ten camping spots with access to electrical power. Potable water and vaulted restrooms are also available onsite. Other amenities include shade trees, playground equipment, picnic area, fire pits, ballpark, and a Community Hall that can be rented out for special events.

As this 4-H year comes to a close, the White Pine 4-H Club is looking for a new Organizational Leader. The 4-H Club Organizational Leader establishes and maintains a club structure that supports 4-H Youth Development activities for school-age youth. This person would not only help keep the meetings running but ensure that the club’s yearly goals are met. Interested persons are encouraged to contact Klingaman by calling 353-4910.
