High School Sports New & Notes

September 30, 2020

The fall high school sports season has been anything but normal for our local student athletes but thanks to the due diligence of the coaching staffs and administrators in Harlem, Chinook, Turner and Hays/Lodge Pole the kids have got to compete for the most part.

All three fall sports have been directly impacted by cancellations and rescheduling due to COVID-19. Chinook Football had it’s game with Fairview taken away. The Sugarbeeter volleyball teams match with Malta was canceled early last week, but the team that has been affected the most is the Harlem Lady Cat Volleyball team.

The Lady Cats have had to reschedule their Senior Night three times now following the latest turn of events with Conrad.

The Conrad High School administration and students learned Sunday that several test had came back positive and have quickly moved to a 14 day quarantine including athletics.

After previously rescheduled senior nights with Rocky Boy that were initially postponed and then eventually canceled. The Lady Cats had planned on honoring their seniors this Thursday when Conrad was scheduled to play.

The Blaine County Journal has not learned of a new date for the senior night to take place. Please check with the school for any updates.

On the flip side the constant efforts to follow protocol in Chinook and Harlem will allow, as of now, homecoming contest to take place this Friday for both the Sugarbeeters and the Wildcats.

The Wildcats will be hosting the Malta Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. and the Sugarbeeters will be welcoming the Simms Tigers to town with kickoff also set for 7:00 p.m.

The Wildcats have a full week of theme days at the high school and elementary but the school does not have a parade planned. Chinook has a full schedule of activities planned leading up to the big game with a parade scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.
