Harlem Civic Association, Parents hold Homecoming Parade for the Wildcats

October 21, 2020

The Harlem Wildcat Football, Volleyball and Cross Country team has been forced to overcome many obstacles this fall and Friday the kids got the opportunity to experience some 'normal' with a parade down main street. Schools across Montana and the United States have all had to deal with highly unusual seasons. Student athletes, coaches, parents and fans have accepted the fact that to be able to play fall sports, certain guidelines would need to be adhered to. All have done a remarkable job following protocols, but that doesn't mean stoppage of play won't happen. The Harlem School District was forced to suspend their season in late September due to COVID-19 positive tests and an uptick in the community of cases, and its resumption was never guaranteed. The decision to resume play was made by the Harlem School Board last Tuesday, with practice and play resuming this past Monday, October 19. In response the Harlem Civic Association and the parents of student athletes organized and put together a non-school affiliated 'Homecoming Parade'. The student athletes made their way down the parade route Friday afternoon with smiles on all of their faces. The opportunity for the students and their families to enjoy it together made the best of a not normal fall season.
