Christmas is good news------ Hello God, it's me, Mara

December 16, 2020

It’s amazing, Lord, when one finds an interesting article to share! The following is by Ruth C. Ikerman, entitled: Do what You Don’t Have To DO. “A friend who thoroughly enjoys each new Christmas season once told me in a moment of fellowship that rich secret of her perennial enjoyment; Christmas IS Good News.

‘Do first, what you have to do for Christmas; get it out of the way. Then you can do what you don’t have to do. The good news: That’s the real meaning of Christmas and it blessings you for the whole year.’

Rossetti’s philosophy explained how she was able to accomplish so much in the way of helping charitable organizations and doing little kindnesses for neighbors and friends.

‘Ruth, Christmas comes in December, so get organized fairly early on the usual items, take advantage of summer sales for family gifts; bake the family fruitcake early – then your kitchen is free to do what you don’t have to do, then you can bake for others. Share your good fortune; now, isn’t that good news? Do something for yourself that you don’t have to do.’ Rossetti enjoyed the musical affairs so was now able to attend. “It’s amazing what’s available, often without cost, just look for it, and plan to get there”, she added.

By getting gift-buying and wrapping out of the way early, you could help wrap gifts for children in needy families. Check with your church or a local agency. Helping out doesn’t cost a single penny.

If you’re tired of seasonal monotony and being bogged down with details, plan ahead this Christmas; give yourself and others the glad gift of the unexpected.

And the best good news is found in 1 Peter 1:24: “The Word of the Lord will last forever. And His message is the Good News that was preached to you.”

Love, Mara.
