Sweet Home Physical Therapy is back in business and better than ever. After a significant upgrade and remodel to their facility, the staff is looking forward to providing the best possible care to its patients.

2020 has allowed Sweet Home Physical Therapy to complete its expansion for their outpatient clinic. The facility itself is nearly double in size and the staff is abundantly qualified to deliver top notch quality care.

Physical Therapist, April Taber is new to Sweet Home Physical Therapy and is a welcomed addition. Joining Taber are two Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants, Carmen Van Voast and Lindsey Obrecht.

Taber graduated from the University of Montana with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2007. Additionally Taber has maintained credentials as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 2003. Her skill set includes being a certified Level 1 Functional Dry Needling practitioner, adding another specialty service to the Sweet Home Clinic.

Taber has practiced Physical Therapy on the Hi-line for 10 years and has long had a passion for the practice, "I knew I wanted to be a Physical Therapist since Grad School," said Taber.

Taber headed in that direction following a personal experience, "My Great Uncle was one of my most favorite people as a child. Unfortunately he had a stroke and so my family and I went to visit him at the rehab facility. There was someone, a Physical Therapist, working with my Great Uncle, and I could tell they were trying to help him get better. From that moment, that was exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up."

As a Doctor of Physical Therapy the job can be very challenging, "I have always thrived for a challenge and I enjoy learning new things. The Human body and all of its functions are a constant learning tool," said Taber.

Physical Therapy is much more than just a job to Taber, "I have a passion to help others, just as that Physical Therapist helped my Great Uncle so many years ago. I enjoy getting to know my patients and having a rapport with them, that shows I am trustworthy and have their best interest in mind."

To see her patients improve is what it's all about, "It is extremely rewarding to watch a person's progress and to assist them with a better quality of life, whether it is less pain, performing at a sport better, or just learning how to walk again. Physical Therapist have such a broad spectrum of ways to help others."

What brought Taber to treat her patients at Sweet Home Physical Therapy in Chinook, "I heard about the remodel and it sounded like a great fit for me," said Taber. "I was excited to be working with a small team and to step in as Department Manager."

Taber has enjoyed her start with her new position, "Since starting in October, I have found all the staff are very friendly and a joy to be around. I enjoy the opportunity that Rebecca (Shackelford, Sweet Home Administrator) and the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home have given me."

Carmen Van Voast is a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant. Van Voast graduated with a Bachelors in Health and Human Performance with Minor in Biology. Carmen has been practicing for 12 years, the last eight at the Sweet Home. Carmen is also a Licensed Massage Therapist, adding a manual therapy specialty to the clinic.
