February is Library Lover's Month! Our book display invites you to Fall in Love with a Good Book. There is a nice selection of romances to choose from. We have "I Love My Library Because" hearts for patrons to fill in.
February is also Black History Month, a time to honor the past, celebrate the present and inspire the future. We have a wide variety of books on display in celebration of Black History Month, many were released within the last year.
Blaine County Library will be closed Monday February 15, 2021 in observance of President's Day.
I have been evaluating and updating the non-fiction section in the library. We have new books on estate planning, bankruptcy, adoption, sign language, religion and paranormal. Other new nonfiction available includes "Keep Sharp" by Dr. Sanjay Gupta is a guide to build a better brain at any age. We have a couple of cookbooks specifically on cooking for one person.
We have several fiction books ready to go this week. Two wildly different women-one a grifter, the other an heiress-are brought together by the scam of a lifetime in "Pretty Things" by Janelle Brown. "The Four Winds" by Kristin Hannah is a powerful American epic about love and heroism and hope, set during the Great Depression, a time when the country was in crisis and at war with itself, when millions were out of work and even the land seemed to have turned against them. "Before She Disappeared" by Lisa Gardiner is a thriller featuring Frankie Elkin, an average middle-aged woman, and a recovering alcoholic with more regrets than belongings, who will stop at nothing to find the missing people that the rest of the world has forgotten.
After School Hangout for grades 7 and 8 is on Mondays at 3:30. Story Time for ages 6 and under is Tuesdays at 10:30. After School Hangout for grades 5 and 6 is Tuesdays at 3:30. LEGO Club for grades Kindergarten and up is Thursdays at 3:30. Masks are required for anyone age 5 and over during all programs. Hand washing will be required upon entering the building. There will be social distancing where applicable. There will be no food or drinks during programs.
