March 31, 2021

Join us for National Library Week April 4 - 10, 2021! National Library Week is a time to celebrate our nation’s libraries, library workers’ contributions and promote library use and support.

The theme for National Library Week 2021 is “Welcome to Your Library.”

During the pandemic, library workers continue to exceed their communities’ demands and adapt resources and services to meet their users’ needs during these challenging times. Whether people visit in person or virtually, libraries offer endless opportunities to transform lives through education and lifelong learning.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and observed in libraries across the country each April. All types of libraries - school, public, academic and special - participate.

Library staff play an invaluable role in supporting their communities both in person and virtually as the world continues to fight COVID-19. In times of crisis, libraries of all types and their workers serve millions of library users in need of free access to WiFi, eBooks, accurate information, and digital social services.

On April 6, 2021, the nation will celebrate National Library Workers Day (NLWD), a time to recognize library staff members for their public service contributions in transforming lives and communities through education and lifelong learning.

Blaine County Library will be having drawings for patrons of all ages during National Library Week. Stop in and get a book bag when you check out and register to win a prize.

It is time again to send a shout out to the many people in the community and beyond who have made donations to the library. A big thank you goes out to: Roger & Nita Jergeson, Dick & Nellie Jo Nicholson, Pat & Donna Murdy, Kylie & Tyler Kropf, Karl & Debra Pula, Steve Edwards, Nita Magnuson, Lindsey Adair, Sharon Powell, Francie Sullivan, Travis Simpson, Max Maddox, Tanis Ross and Alisha Herdegan. Whether you made a monetary or book donation or some other donation, we appreciate your generosity and continued support.

After School Hangout for grades 7 and 8 is on Mondays at 3:30. Story Time for ages 6 and under is Tuesdays at 10:30. After School Hangout for grades 5 and 6 is Tuesdays at 3:30. LEGO Club for grades Kindergarten and up is Thursdays at 3:30. Masks are still required for anyone age 5 and over during all programs. Hand washing will be required upon entering the building. There will be social distancing where applicable. There will be no food or drinks during programs.

We have 2 iPads available for checkout for a 14-day checkout, in addition to the 3 hotspots.

Blaine County Library is still following CDC guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID. We are currently under a mask mandate implemented by the Blaine County Commissioners after the Governor lifted the statewide mandate. The library’s Pandemic/Epidemic Policy gives the library board the authority to continue requiring masks, handwashing and social distancing until the CDC no longer recommends those measures to prevent the spread of COVID, and the library will be following that policy.
