Fire consumes 250+ Acres south of Chinook

July 28, 2021

This Chinook Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) Fire Truck is parked with an extinguished burnt field behind it after firefighters successfully contained and extinguished the largest fire of the year to date in Blaine County. This fire encompassed more than 250 acres approximately 15 miles south of Chinook late last week. Quick response from the CVFD, Local Rural volunteer fire departments and local landowners allowed for fire crews to be able to get in front of and contain this fire before it got out of hand. This fire, again reminds us of the severe danger we are in right now and hammers home the need to stay vigilant about fire safety while recreating or working outdoors throughout Blaine County.
