Summer Reading participants have until August 6 to notify the library the total books they have read this summer. Drawings for grand prizes will take place the week of August 9. Grand prizes will be given in the 0-kindergarten, grades 1-8, and teens/adults categories. There are still take home activity kits available for children at the library.

The Book Challenge for August is to read a book featuring sports or athletes. Contact the library if you have completed the July Book Challenge and you may win a gift certificate from a local business.

A new suspense novel is “The Plot” by Jean Hanff Korelitz. Jacob Finch was once a promising novelist but now finds himself teaching writing at a third-rate college and he hasn’t had anything published in years. Evan Parker, an arrogant student of his, announces he has a no-fail plot for a book he is writing and doesn’t need Jake’s help. When is it discovered Evan has died, Jake takes the daring step to claim the story as his own. His career skyrockets until an email arrives: “You are a thief.”

“Other People’s Children” is by R.J. Hoffman. Gail and Jon Durbin have tried unsuccessfully to start a family and their attempts at adoption have fallen through. But now Carli, a pregnant teen who has made the difficult decision to give her baby up for adoption, has chosen the Durbin’s. But Carli’s mother has other plans for her grandchild. Three mothers make excruciating choices to protect their families.

A new mystery is “The House on Vesper Sands” by Paraic O’Donnell. High up in a house on a dark snowy night in London, 1893, a seamstress stands by a window.

Why does she jump? Why is a cryptic message stitched into her skin? How is she connected to a series of missing girls? Inspector Cutter uncovers the mysterious layers that lead to the secrets hidden at the house on Vesper Sands.

Two additions to the Montana Collection are “The Cheyenne Story: An Interpretation of Courage” a novel by Gerry Robinson and “Brothers on Three: A True Story of Family, Resistance, and Hope on a Reservation in Montana” by Abe Streep.

W. Bruce Cameron is the author of “A Dog’s Courage,” a Dog’s Way Home novel. A new thriller from Terri Blackstock is “Aftermath.”

Stop by and shop at the on-going used book sale in the reading room. The library free Wi-Fi is on 24/7. Come in to get the new password. The library has puzzles and board games available for check out.
