Sugarbeeter junior Tyler Schoen leaves behind a helpless Hawk defender on his way to a 34 yard touchdown run to put the 'Beeters up 28-0.

The Chinook Sugarbeeters capped off Homecoming Week Friday night under the lights as they welcomed the Chester/Joplin-Inverness Hawks to Hoon Field. The 'Beeters entered the contest as winners of four straight and were looking to add to that total in a big Northern C 'B' Subdivision contest.

Chinook started fast, scoring on their first play from scrimmage and never looked back in a lopsided 61-14 win over the Hawks to improve to a perfect 5-0. The 'Beeters were ultra fast in putting points on the board with two one play scoring drives, a two play drive and two pick six's in building a 42-8 halftime lead.

The game began with a little trickery from the 'Beeter offense. Senior Drake Berreth went in motion as junior Quarterback Levi Jensen took the shotgun snap. Jensen flipped the ball to Berreth and rolled out right. Berreth pumped once and then fired a strike down field to Jensen for a 37 yard touchdown on a perfectly executed Flea-flicker. Berreth added the two-point conversion to give Chinook a 8-0 just :18 into the contest.

The 'Beeter defense later rose to the occasion on fourth and long for the Hawks. Senior Defensive End Oskar Pula bulldogged his way to the Hawk Quarterback, picking up the sack and giving the offense back the ball at the 'Beeter 32 yard line.

The quick strike 'Beeter offense again wasted little time as Jensen took the snap and hit senior wideout Toby Niederegger on a quick hitch. Niederegger turned up field and just out ran the entire defense for a 48 yard touchdown. Junior Tyler Schoen added the conversion run to give the 'Beeters a 16-0 lead.

Jensen made the Hawks pay once again early in the second quarter. This time however it was on the defensive side of the ball. Jensen intercepted the Hawks quarterback and took it to the house for a 22-0 Chinook lead with 8:02 left in the first half.

The 'Beeters quickly thwarted the ensuing Chaster/J-I drive sending the offense right back on the field.

The 'Beeters began their next drive at their own 14 yard line and still had their foot on the gas pedal. Jensen dropped back on first down and hit a wide open Niederegger for a 32 yard pass completion all the way down to the Hawks 24 yard line.

Schoen then took the handoff from Jensen on the very next play from scrimmage and rumbled down the sideline, leaving defenders in his dust as he scored on a 34 yard run with 5:39 left in the half to put the 'Beeters on top 28-0.

Chester/J-I never was able to get anything going on offense with any consistency but the Hawks did come up with a big play to get themselves on the scoreboard following a 48 yard touchdown run and conversion to make the score 28-8.

The 'Beeters responded with their first drive of the game that took more than two plays to score. Jensen found Pula on a quick hitter for seven yards. The Hawks were penalized for targeting after Pula took a huge hit.

Jensen then connected with Berreth on a huge gain deep inside Hawk territory. Following a penalty that move the 'Beeters to the Hawk 12 yard line Jensen found the end zone with a 12 yard run. Berreth caught the conversion pass and Chinook was up 36-8 with 3:35 left in the second quarter.

The 'Beeter defense added another score just before half when junior Flint Annis applied pressure in the Hawks backfield leading to an errant throw by the quarterback that resulted in a pick six touchdown by Annis from 35 yards out with :19 left on the clock. The teams headed to the halftime locker room with the 'Beeters up big, 42-8.

Chester/J-I began the second half with the first possession but the 'Beeter defense made sure the drive was short lived. On first down Niederegger intercepted the Hawks putting the 'Beeter offense back in business.

The 'Beeters started the ensuing drive at the Hawks 24 yard line. Unable to move the ball effectively the 'Beeters found themselves in a fourth down situation at the Hawk 19. Schoen had the answer though as he rumbled and bumbled through the Hawk defense on his way to the end zone for yet another touchdown and a 48-8 'Beeter advantage.

Chester/J-I had their second big play of the game on the next possession, scoring on a 65 yard run to make the score 48-14. The Hawks had more yards on their two scoring plays than they finished with for the entire game.

The teams traded possessions that essentially went no where for either team before the 'Beeters began a drive late in the third quarter at their own 31 yard line.

'Beeter senior Hunter Molyneaux breaks through the Chester defense with a nice stiffarm for a nice gain.

Jensen found Pula on a slant and the nifty senior added 15 more yards after the catch to move the ball into Hawks territory. Berreth hauled in another catch down to the 14 yard line and Niederegger capped the drive, scoring from 14 yards out to push the lead to 55-14 following a Pula conversion kick.

The 'Beeters would add their final touchdown of the contest early in the fourth quarter with Schoen scoring again on the ground, this time from 38 yards out. The conversion was no good making the final score 61-14.

The 'Beeters will take their perfect 5-0 record on the road this Saturday to take on the 5-0 Simms Tigers for what essentially will be the 'B' Subdivision top spot in the crossover round to determine seeding for the Northern C Division in the Montana Class C Eight Player State Tournament.
