MAT Seeks Assistance with Anastasia

February 23, 2022

The Montana Actors’ Theatre and Havre High School Theatre production of Anastasia is cast and rehearsals are underway with over forty high school actors participating. This project was designed to give local students the opportunity to perform in a full-scale musical. While many entities in Havre and the surrounding communities have already pledged financial support for this project, the program is seeking additional assistance.

Jay Pyette, Executive Director of Montana Actors’ Theatre (MAT), expressed excitement about the partnership and pleasure in working with Havre Public Schools. He announced that the show itself will take place on the Havre High School Theatre’s stage. Anastasia is being directed by Angela Pratt.

“If you aren’t in the know about this show, it’s a full-scale musical in which MAT is taking on all artistic and technical production, high school students are portraying all the roles, the Community Orchestra is playing the music, and the MSUN stagecraft crew is building the set under MAT’s guidance. What a great combination of talent,” Pyette exclaimed.

Pyette went on to describe musicals as extremely expensive to produce, reporting that the royalties alone for this production exceed $6500. “Add in sets, props, and about a hundred costumes, and the expenses are high! So, simply put, we need financial help providing this opportunity.”

Anyone interested in supporting the theater is encouraged to reach out to Pyette about the possibility of becoming a Nightly Sponsor or a Community Supporter. A Nightly Sponsor receives his/her name in the program, identifying the individual or business as such, along with six reserve tickets to any night of the show. A Community Supporter will be named in the program as a sponsor of the show. For details about these opportunities, Pyette can be reached by email (jay@mtactors.com), call, or text (406-945-0272).

Regardless of one’s decision about financially sponsoring the show, everyone is encouraged to attend. Anastasia runs March 24-26 and March 31-April 2 at 7:00 nightly with additional matinees on March 26 and April 2 at 2:00 p.m.
