Gertrude Pearl Reed

Gertrude Pearl Reed, age 89, passed away in her sleep at her home in Havre, Montana on December 1, 2025. She was born July 1, 1936 in Chinook to Raymond and Mary (Streeter) Russell. She grew up in Chinook but later moved to Havre where she graduated from high school. After graduation she worked for Triangle Telephone as an operator. She met Robert Reed and they married in 1959 and moved to a dairy east of Chinook. They had three children Wesley Randall, Leslie Edward and Connie Lynn. She divorced Robert in 1995 and moved to Havre. She worked as a home health care aid before she retired.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Raymond Russell. Her infant brother Bert Russell, her sisters; Lola and her brother in-law Dick Geiger; and Dorothy Borgen; a sister in-law Geneva Russell and her son Wesley Randall Reed also a former son in-law Fred Newton.

She is survived her brother Raymond Russell and his wife DiAnn of Paris, Tennessee and a brother in-law Lyle Borgen of Tennessee. Also by her son Leslie Edward and his wife Judith of Chinook. Her daughter Connie Newton of Helena and a daughter in-law Sharon Reed of Chinook. Her grandchildren Joseph Reed, Mary Syck, Tracey Flanagan, Anne Reed, Ross Reed, Kaylee Snell, Randy Newton and Stephanie Newton and seven great grandchildren.

Pearl has been cremated and a memorial will take place at 11:30 Chinook May 16, 2026 at the Chinook Senior Center. A luncheon will follow. The family asks that if you would like to send a memorial that you choose the Havre Senior Center meals on wheels program.
