Gun Show, Car Show and Brewfest Add to Great Sugarbeet Festival Lineup

September 21, 2022

The 2022 Sugarbeet Festival will take place on Saturday, October 1. Many of the festival activities will take place uptown but there are three huge events taking place nearby. The Chinook Rod and Gun Club will be hosting their 10th Annual Gun and Antique Show beginning on Friday, September 30 and ending on Sunday, October 2 at the Blaine County Fairgrounds Commercial Building. In addition the Blaine County Cruisers will hold their Annual Car Show just to the west outside of the Commercial Building on Saturday. Registration will take place first thing in the morning and the show will conclude somewhere around two in the afternoon. The Car Show is free to attend, trophies will be awarded, and refreshments will be available. Good will donations will go towards the Blaine County Cruisers Scholarship fund. The Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation will hold their Annual Brewfest beginning at 4:00 pm. Saturday afternoon at the Sweet Memorial Park.

The Chinook Rod & Gun Club is always a good time, attracting vendors and visitors alike from all over Montana, the western United States and Canada. The Show is the largest Gun Show on the Hi-line and features a pay once, get in all three days admission policy. Paid entry also gets visitors into a drawing to win $1,000 in Gun Show Bucks Friday, the doors will be open 2:00-6:00 pm. Saturday will see the doors open at 9:00 am and close at 6:00 pm. Sunday's hours of operation will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. All tables are full so there will be plenty of items for prospective buyers to look at.

The Gun and Antique show has been a staple in the community for a decade now and folks have become accustomed to reconnecting with vendors coming back each fall to touch base on what's new. Concessions are available throughout the show and several chances to win great prizes are offered to anyone willing to take a chance. The Shot Glass game is hugely popular with winners being drawn for a semi-auto 12 gauge shotgun or $500 in cash. There will also be a 50/50 raffle that does not require winners to be present.

This year's show will also feature a 1/4 beef raffle donated by Triangle Communications. Tickets are now available, and the winning ticket will be drawn at the show. In addition, if an individual presents 6 ticket stubs at the gun show, the presenter will receive an extra door prize ticket with their paid admission. Proceeds from the raffle will go to support local youth activities including the Annual Kids Fishing Day for Chinook, Harlem, Zurich and County School fourth graders, youth shooting sports and more.

The Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation Annual Brewfest has proven to be a huge success and organizers expect another great time will be had by all this year. The Brewfest will get started at 4:00pm at the Sweet Memorial Park, 800 New York Street in Chinook. The Brewfest will include a Silent Auction during the event with plenty of great items up for bid. A number of craft beers, ciders, wine and fresh brewed non-alcoholic Root Beer and Cream Soda will be on hand.

The Blaine County Wildlife Museum will be providing a barbecue for hungry attendees to enjoy. Sampler mugs will be available as well as the ever popular Unlimited Beer & Sampler Mug. To make sure everyone can have a great time while enjoying their favorite adult brew, the Blaine County DUI Task Force will be providing free rides.

All proceeds from the Brewfest will go directly towards the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundations primary goal of raising funds to repair the equipment at Sweet Park and the City of Chinook Swimming pool. Having a pool and park that is up to date, functional and safe for all of the community as well as visitors is something that can only benefit small rural communities like Chinook.

A lot of exciting things are on their way, and everyone is encouraged to get out and take part in something that interests you. There are plenty of options available whether visitors choose to do one activity or all of them one thing is certain, a good time will be had. The weather forecast for Saturday is partly sunny with a high of 66˚.
