Nellie M. Cederberg

Nellie M. Cederberg, 93, passed away January 4, 2023 in Great Falls, Montana. Born to Iris Sanguins Staples and Ernest Staples on January 15, 1929 in Turner, Montana - the youngest of four children.

She graduated from Turner High School in 1946 and went on to further her education at Northern in Havre. She worked for Great Northern Railroad while living in Havre.

Nellie married Leon Cederberg on November 22, 1951. They made their home in Turner. She became a farm wife and mother of three boys. In addition to raising their three sons, she worked at J & G Rifle Ranch. She enjoyed gardening and participating in activities at her church and with her home demonstration club (Modern Mrs.).

In 1997 Leon and Nellie leased their farm and moved to Great Falls due to Leon's health. Leon passed away December 28, 2005. Nellie continued to make her home in Great Falls and was very active in volunteering for Linus Project, Benefis New Born Caps, Benefis Gift Shop, and the History Museum. She was an avid quilter and her beautiful work is enjoyed by family and friends. In August of 2018 she moved into an apartment at Iris Senior Living, where she resided until her death.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Iris Staples, sister Mary and Dan Gill, brother Donald and Peggy Staples, husband Leon, in-laws Aben and Jewel Cederberg, brother in-laws Mel Van Wechel, Swede Cederberg, Keith Cowan, and Bill Bilger.

Survivors include sister Edith Bilger of Havre, sons Max ( Kirsti) Cederberg of Turner, Dale (Lynda) Cederberg of Moccasin, Jay (Aleta) Cederberg of Molt, grandsons Colter (Kelly), Josh (Kelly), Levi and four great grandchildren Tyson, Tanner, Grayson and Scarlett, sister in-laws Donna Van Wechel, Glenna Cederberg, Tudie Cowan, brother inlaw Larry (Roberta) Cederberg, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service was held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Turner American Lutheran Church with burial to follow at the Turner Cemetery.

The family asks that memorials in Nellie's memory be made to the Turner American Lutheran Church, Turner Park or Turner-Hogeland Lions Club.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilderness Funeral Home in Chinook.
