Blaine County Sheriff John Colby Swears in Deputies

Blaine County Sheriff John Colby recently had a swearing in ceremony for his Deputies. Taking the oath of office to serve the citizens of Blaine County were Undersheriff Christopher Adair, Chief Deputy Levi Gonzalez, Deputy Donald Kokkeler, Deputy Deborah Taly, Deputy Devin Duke. Deputy Kevin Spudic is attending training with the Montana Air Guard and wasn't able to attend the ceremony.

The Deputies bring plenty of experience to the office and Sheriff Colby looks forward to his department protecting and Serving Blaine County. Undersheriff Chris Adair joined the Blaine County Sheriff's Office in August of 2012. In the years since Adair has served as the Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor, Armorer, Deputy Coroner, and the Senior Operator for Blaine County's breath alcohol testing equipment. Adair also is the DUI Task Force Coordinator and lives in Chinook with his wife and two sons. Adair came to Blaine County from Flathead County.


Chief Deputy Levi Gonzalez joined the Blaine County Sheriff's Department in January 2018. Gonzales previously studied Criminal Justice at Utah Valley University where he excelled in courses such as Criminal Justice, Forensics, and Criminal Law. Gonzales possesses some formal education and has trained with professional firearms instructors, and in hand-to-hand combat, to help him pursue his career in law enforcement. Gonzales moved to Montana with his wife in March of 2013 and owns a small cow/calf ranch operation in Blaine County.

Deputy Sheriff Deb Taly graduated on June 30th, 2021 from the Montana Law Enforcement Academy and has served the citizens of Blaine County exceptionally well in her time with the Department. Deputy Devin Duke graduated from the Montana Law Enforcement Academy on December 14, 2021 and has been a great addition to the Department in such a short time. Deputy Kevin Spudic transferred from the Chinook Police Department where he served as Assistant Chief of Police to the Blaine County Sheriff's Office in 2021, eventually working as the departments Tri-Agency Drug Task Force Representative until they re-designated their association.
