Lady Cats Fall to Cut Bank, Malta, Poplar

January 25, 2023

Lady Cat sophomore Lacia Walls works to get by the Cut Bank defender during action last Monday.

The Harlem Lady Cats were in Cut Bank this past Monday playing the Wolves in a make up game originally scheduled in December.

The Wolves jumped out to a 13-3 lead early on. The Lady Cats were working hard on defense and did a nice job of slowing Cut Bank down. On offense they just couldn't buy a bucket. The Lady Cats were able to draw fouls against the Wolves but were able to connect on just 3-10 from the charity stripe.

The offense turned a corner in the second, erupting for 16 points in the quarter while the defense kept the Wolves in check with nine.

Trailing 22-19 to start the third they were looking to keep the momentum going. The offense however didn't come, scoring just a couple of baskets and trailed 33-23 with eight minutes left.

Harlem tried to rally down the stretch but couldn't close the gap and fell 51-37 to the Wolves. Junior Emma Billmayer led the Lady Cats with 17 points, sophomore Aaraya Mount added 10.

Thursday the Lady Cats faced the Malta M-ettes and were in a District 2B contest. Malta cruised to 70-26 win in defeating Harlem. Saturday in Poplar the girls again struggled in a 74-29 setback to the Indians.

The Lady Cats face Rocky Boy on Thursday and Cut Bank on Saturday this week.
