May 24, 2023

Today is the Summer Reading Block Party at the Harlem Library! The theme this year is “All Together Now” and we invite everyone to stop by the library from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. to join in the free fun. There will be Bliss Ice Cream, face painting, sidewalk decorating, firefighters and firetrucks, and sno-cones. Children are invited to register for summer reading at this time.

The library encourages children to keep reading over the summer. Children ages 0-5 will be rewarded for every 15 books they read or have read to them. Elementary students will earn prizes for every 30 minutes they read. These rewards include a gift certificate from Bliss Ice Cream, an Italian Soda from Schmucker’s, a gift certificate for ice cream from the Corner Hub, and a one day swim pass to the Harlem City Pool. A total of four certificates may be earned per week. Each time a child either reads fifteen books or 30 minutes their name will be entered to win a grand prize at the end of summer reading.

Summer Reading weekly programs begin the week of May 30. Storytime for children ages 0-5 and their parents/caregivers will be held every Tuesday morning at 10:00 A.M. from May 30th through July 18th. The little ones will enjoy an hour of reading, crafts, activities and play!
