PAWS Animal Shelter set for 2nd Adoption Event

June 7, 2023

The PAWS Animal Shelter in Chinook is set to host its second ever adoption event on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at North 40 in Havre, MT. The theme for this event is 'Adopt Your Next Adventure' and looks to build upon the success of the first event.

The idea of holding an adoption event came about in December, 2022 and quickly became a reality with North 40 jumping on board ready to help in any way possible. The first event, held on January 28, 2023 and featured six dogs directly from the Shelter as well as five others that were being held in the community.

The Shelter had been dealing with the 'Hell hound dogs that resulted in an incredible effort to rehabilitate more than 40 dogs and puppies back into the community, It didn't take long for the 11 dogs to quickly be adopted, deeming the event a huge success.

The current population at the shelter is once again critically high with 28 dogs currently being sheltered, "Our first adoption event earlier this year at North 40 was an amazing success. We hope it has paved the way for future events like our adoption event coming up," said PAWS manager Alyssa Hewitt. "It will feature PAWS dogs from puppies to adults."

Included in the adoption event will be some dogs that have been with the shelter for some time, but have now fully met the requirements for adoption. "There will be a few of the Hell House Hounds that have come a long way, we believe they could

thrive in the right household.

Our adoption fee for this event is reduced to $150. Applications will be available, but interested applicants can also apply online at http://www.pawsofchinook.org to be approved ahead of the event."

The PAWS Animal Shelter has done a remarkable job in serving the local communities in /chinook and the surrounding areas but funding is always an issue. A small volunteer group with one part time employee take care of the shelter needs from vaccinations and medical appointments to walking, feeding and loving the animals.

Adoption fees and donations are the primary source of income for PAWS, "We appreciate being chosen as donation recipients when there are so many worthy causes for people to choose from," said Hewitt. "We also appreciate the opportunity to connect our dogs with families for a lifetime of unconditional pup love."

The North 40 Adoption Event will take place from 10 am - 2:00 pm at North 40 in Havre, June 17, 2023.
