Lions Perform Well in Fort Benton and Glendive & Host Eastern C Divisional this Saturday

Editor's note: Due to printing deadlines in Helena we have to have all or our paper ready to be sent on Sunday. We will have the Eastern C Divisional results in next week's paper. This note will really need to be enforced during the High School Athletic seasons. Coaches will have to have their information into me Saturday night to be included in that week's paper. The following are results from the Lions meets in Fort Benton and Glendive.

The Chinook Lions did their best to get some final work in prior to the Eastern C Divisional in Chinook by competing in Fort Benton and Glendive July 15-16. In the Eight and Under girls Division Sylvi Hardwood was fantastic. Sylvi won all three individual events garnering a High Point Trophy along the way. Sylvi first captured gold in the 25 Meter Freestyle, touching the wall in :19.34. Harwood then added a first-place finish in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :42.34. Lastly Sylvi won the 25 Meter Butterfly with the time of :20.41.

Tyler Stephens shined in the Boys 9-10 year old division. First Tyler swam his way to a first-place finish in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :34.57. Tyler followed with another top finish, this time winning the 100 Meter Freestyle in 1:25.46. Tyler finished his swim with a second-place finish in the 50 Meter Backstroke, touching the wall in :50.49.

Rachel Stephens turned in a really solid effort in the 13-14 Girls Division finishing with 2 first place finishes and one second. Stephens finished first in the 100 Meter Freestyle, touching the wall in 1:08.35. Stephens added another first in the 200 Meter Freestyle carrying a time of 2:33.27. Stephens added a second-place finish in the 50 Meter Butterfly with a time of :33.74.

In the Senior Boys (15-19) Brockton Elliot took home an individual High Point. Elliot began by winning the 200 Meter Individual Medley completing the tasking event in 2:59.03. Elliot, he showed his muscle sweeping the Butterfly events. Brockton first won the 50 Meter Butterfly in :29.39. Later Brockton captured the 100 Meter Butterfly in a time of 2:12.40,

Katie Tilleman again had her way with the 13-14 Girls Division turning in another swim worthy of a High Point Trophy. First Katie won 50 Meter Freestyle completing the sprint in :28.95. Tilleman has the most variety in her swims as she followed by winning the 100 Meter Backstroke in 1:15.27. Katie concluded her swim by winning the 50 Meter Butterfly in a time of :31.59.

Daniel Tilleman also captured a Senior Boys High Point, swimming and winning three separate events from Brockton. Daniel began his swim by winning the 50 Meter Freestyle in :26.30. Moments later he added a first-place finish in the 100 Meter Freestyle, stopping the clock at :58.53. Daniel completed his swim by winning the 400 Meter Freestyle in a time of 5:45.31.

A small contingent of Lions swimmers were in Glendive to compete and were led by Colter Matkin in the 15-19 Senior Boys division. Matkin earned a second-place finish in the 100 Meter Backstroke touching the wall in 1:25.09. Matkin also earned a third-place finish in the 100 Meter Butterfly with a time of 1:29.57. Colten completed his swim with fourth place finish in the 50 Meter Butterfly (33.45).
