'Beeters Outlast Shelby 3-2 Fall to Choteau 3-0

The Chinook Sugarbeeter Volleyball team welcomed the Shelby Coyotes to town on Friday and kept fans on the edge of their seats in a five set thrilling win over the visitors. Saturday the 'Beeters fell to the Choteau Bulldogs 3-0 on the road. The 'Beeters are playing in the District 1B after moving up to the Class B ranks this fall.

The 'Beeters have met the challenge head on and were looking to send a message to the conference by proving they belong. After starting the season with a win over Rocky Boy followed by tough 3-2 losses to the District 2B Glasgow Scotties and conference foe Conrad they flipped the script against the Coyotes.

The 'Beeters got the start they wanted in the first set, grabbing the momentum early in a 25-18 set win. The Coyotes bounced back in set number two topping the 'Beeters 25-14. Shelby continued to have all the momentum in set three, taking the'Beeters down 25-19. Chinook battled back in set number four to even the match 2-2 with a 25-17 set win. In set number five the 'Beeters, with momentum now on their side, cruised to a 15-2 set win to win the match three sets to two.

The 'Beeters were led on the night by senior Hallie Neibauer who slammed home a team high 19 Kills. As a team the 'Beeters recorded 56 Kills in the win. Junior Sami Malsam served up eight of the teams 14 Aces. Junior Rilee Molyneaux dug up 23 of the teams 105 Digs. Junior Ashlyn Jensen recorded four Blocks while senior Mya Berreth set the hitters up with 24 of the team's 45 Assists.

Saturday in Choteau the 'Beeters ran into a tough Bulldog team that was one step ahead all night long. Chinook took the Bulldogs as far as they could before dropping the opening set 28-26. In set number two the 'Beeter once again matched the Bulldogs point for point before falling 25-23. Looking to turn the tables in set number three the 'Beeters fought hard but fell 25-21. Choteau won the match 3-0.

Neibauer once again led the 'Beeter attack recording 14 Kills on the night. Molyneaux and Jenson each recorded a pair of Aces. Molyneaux dug up 28 of the teams 71 Digs, Neibauer played outstanding at the net recording eight Blocks on the night. Berreth led the 'Beeters with 15 Assists. With the loss Chinook sits at 2-2 in the District 1B.

This year's team returns a ton of talent from last year's squad that reached the Class C State Tournament. Back for their senior year are Hallie Neibauer, Mya Berreth, Teagan Richman and Jenna Liddle. Juniors out this fall include Alexus Seymour, Addison Olsen, Rilee Molyneaux, Ashlyn Jensen, Gracie Skoyen, Hannah Schoen and Ivey Lenz. Sophomores are Brooke Fetter Falyn Cecrle, Tayla Richman, Olivia Bartlett, Sami Malsam and Mara Edwards. Freshman out to get their first taste of high school volleyball include Sidney Liddle, Amyerah Kelly, Camry Gustitis and Kealey Logan
