Harlem, Chinook, Hays/Lodge Pole Thinclads well Represented at Havre Cross Country Meet

Brandlin Foote competed well in Havre on Saturday finishing with a time of 17:16.55 to finish second.

The Chinook Sugarbeeter, Harlem Wildcat and Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbird Cross Country teams were in Havre this past Saturday. All three area schools had plenty of athletes run. Chinook led the way with 14 runners, nine boys and five girls. The Wildcats had 12 runners with 11 boys including seven freshmen and one girl in the field. The Thunderbird roster included three girls and one boy.

The Wildcat boys were led by dynamic freshman Branlin Foote who posted a time of 17:16.55 to finish second in the field. Foote had a great spring, running track for the Wildcats and qualifying for the State Class B meet as an eighth grader. Foote was the top Class B finisher in Havre. As the season moves along Foote should only get better. The Wildcats got a solid effort from freshman Isaac Cuts the Rope who finished with a time of 19:17.30. Freshman Gregory Gardipee was close behind, crossing the finish line in 19:24.75. Junior Diondre First Raised recorded a time of 20:56.89. Rounding out the Wildcats top five was freshman Lathon Blackwood, clocking in with a time of 22:06.09. The Wildcat contingent also included seniors Moses Lawrence, Kelbi Bigby and Shane Stiffarm along with freshmen Orion Cuts the Rope, Romeo Main and Carter Lawrence. The Thunderbirds lone entrant was sophomore Ethan Russel with a time of 21:58.36.

The Harlem girl's lone runner was senior Desiree Smith who finished with a time of 30:14.26. The Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbird girls were led by freshman Hadley Not Afraid with a time of 28:35.07. Freshman Shaydyn Blount ran the course in 31:42.12 while freshman Alissa Whitfield who crossed the finish line with a time of 32:59.38.

The Chinook Sugarbeeter girls turned in a solid effort with all five running very well. The Beeters were led by Neva Lowe who posted a time of 21:19.94 good for sixth place in the girl's race. Sophomore Emma Klingeman completed the course in 24:12.71. Sophomore Kirby Hofeldt clocked in at 26:52.52. The Beeters rounded out their team scoring with sophomore Bailey Billmayer (28:45.61) and junior Jeni Mord (29:15.71).

Neva Lowe also competed well in Havre on Saturday finishing with a time of 21:19.94 to finish sixth .

The 'Beeter boys had nine runners in the field and were led by junior Carson Nissen who completed the course in 21:05.65. Senior Corey Bilger recorded a time of 22:02.97, sophomore Ezekiel Sanders finished in 23:22.06. Rounding out the 'Beeter top five was junior Kalled Jaha (23:28.34) and freshman Even Hofeldt (24:47.09). Freshmen Gus Buck and Kenneth Gruszie along with juniors Dentin DePriest and Lance Pitkanen round out the squad.

The 'Beeters are still pretty new to Cross Country, now in year two. The 'Beeters doubled the size of their roster with 14 kids out this fall. Chinook Head Coach, Kendall Harwood was pleased with his team's effort, "Meet went very well. On the girl's side Neva got 6th with a new personal record. We qualified all 5 of our girls. Bailey Billmayer took 3 minutes off her time from last week. Carson had another great day leading the Beeters. Evan Hofeldt cut time to be our newest boy qualifier."
