The Turner Tornadoes hosted the North Country Mavericks in a non-conference tilt on Tuesday, December 19th to close out the 2023 season. The young Tornado team struggled mightily against one of the top Class C teams. The Mavericks stormed out to a 29-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Tornadoes played a bit better in the second quarter, scoring 9 points to the Mavericks’ 14.
Up 43-9 starting the third quarter, the Mavericks extended their lead by 10 to 53-11 with 8 minutes remaining in the contest. North Country kept their foot on the gas, winning the quarter 20-3 to secure a 75-14 win over the Tornadoes.
Turner will return to the court in 2024 with a road contest against the Box Elder Bears on Friday, January 5. The Tornadoes will return home the following day to host the Fort Benton Longhorns.
