Every year, after the state tournaments have all been completed, there comes a stretch of three weeks when we get one or two chances to watch some great players compete in a series of All-Star Tournaments.

Last weekend in Billings featured a pair of tournaments highlighting the talents of five Blaine County girls and boys.

Competing at the Treasure State Classic was Harlem senior Emma Billmayer, Chinook seniors Hallie Neibauer and Jenna Liddle, and Chinook junior Alexus Seymour.

The Treasure State Classic is primarily a senior tournament, but when roster spots are available, they ask select juniors to play. The 16-team tournament consisted of four teams from Montana's C and B schools, three teams from A, one AA team, a regional team, this year from North Dakota (Mon-Dak), two Montana Wildcard teams, and a Rookie All-Star team comprised of sophomores from all classes, which is new this year's tournament.

All four girls joined forces and represented Blaine County on the Northern B team. Tournament action began on Thursday night when the B North team took on the Rookie All-Class team. The B North team struggled to get shots to fall and lost to the Rookies, 78-39. Neibauer contributed 10 of the team's points, while Billmayer chipped in 8 of her own. The loss forced the girls into an early Friday morning game where B North took on the C West team. Game two for North B was close, but in the end they were handed another tough loss, 58-52. Neibauer led the team in scoring with 18 points and Seymour tossed in 8 points. On Saturday morning, the girls played their final game of the tournament where they took on the A West team. A West defeated B North by 10 with a final score of 57-47.

Jackson Nordboe was the lone Blaine County representative on the Boys side, playing for the North B team at the Billings Hotel Senior Classic.

Harlem senior, Emma Billmayer, Chinook seniors, Hallie Neibauer and Jenna Liddle and Chinook junior, Alexus Seymour represent their schools and Blaine County at the Treasure State Classic in Billings last weekend.

Similar to the Treasure State Classic, the tournament is broken down into four teams from each class to compete. The Senior Classic began on Thursday, March 14, where eight games were played. The tournament continued on Friday with 14 games set to be played between the two gyms at Billings Senior. The tournament finished on Saturday morning, where the North B team earned a fifth place finish out of 16 teams.

North B's first game of the tournament was on Thursday night, where they beat the Central AA team handily by a score of 113-63. Advancing in the tournament, the boys were set to play the South A team on Friday morning. North B lost a close battle with South A, 70-61. Nordboe was the team's second leading scorer of the morning, tossing in 10 points. With a small break in between, North B was set to take the court again on Friday afternoon against Central A. North B would come out victorious in their third game of the weekend, defeating Central A by 30 points, 83-53. In their final game of the tournament against the East B team, the North B earned a hard-fought win to take fifth place overall, outscoring the East B, 92-81. Nordboe had a dominating final game in the tournament, leading all scorers with 23 points.
