Mary Lou M Lexvold-West, aged 86, passed away on January 8, 2025 at her home in Sun City West, AZ. Born March 8, 1938 in Madison, WI. Although born and raised in Wisconsin, Marylou lived the largest portion of her life in Anchorage, AK, raising her family and working at the FAA in logistics. After retirement Mary Lou and her husband Dave moved to Washington State then settled in Arizona. Also making Chinook their part time home, where she established friendships and memories she cherished for over the span of 25 plus years.
Mary Lou was known for her vibrant engagement in life, marked by her deep love of family, friends and participation in community activities. She was often found cheering on the kids at local sporting events, sharpening her game in golf and bowling, delving into her family identity through genealogy research, practicing her craft and deepening friendships at Quilt Guild and Charity Quilts, combining her love of creativity with her commitment to helping others. Her sociable nature ensured she was often surrounded by friends and family, all of whom found a welcoming and joy-filled spirit that she gave all.
Mary Lou's life was filled with the joy of her children, Karen Sullivan, Mark Gunderson, and Scott Gunderson (Jacque), and her brother, Robert Lexvold (Sue). She cherished moments spent with her grandchildren, Krystal Leonard (Terry), Alana Briese (Beau), Gavin Gunderson, Cortney Duffy(Joe) and Rachel, as well as, her great-grandchildren, Mahala and Catherine Gardener.
A memorial service to celebrate Mary Lou's life was held January 18, 2025 with family in Sun City West, AZ and a grave side service to be held later this spring in Wisconsin.
