Hello From the
Chinook Senior Center
April is here and hopefully, with it will come many rain showers. We can always use moisture in this country.
Last Friday, we had a tremendous amount of fun, with a full house of special birthday guests, including Loma Miller. What a nice surprise to see her here! She, naturally, brought lots of family members to join her.
We are told that Donna Murdy is home and is doing well. She welcomes visitors, with notice, so that she may continue with her other obligations and appointments.
Pat Murdy sent a nice thank you card, thanking each one for all of the wonderful 95th birthday wishes.
It is with sadness that we lost our dear friend, Virginia Olson on March 26th, following a stay at Northern Montana Hospital. She was a most remarkable woman. She attended (joyfully) two consecutive Governor’s Conferences on Aging, over the past two years, representing Blaine County. She was never one to complain. She was always up for a Pinochle party or Bingo. She was a privilege to know and a dear friend, to many. When asked what she attributed her longevity to at the conferences, she stated, “good healthy food, raised from her garden, Montana beef and good healthy living”. She is terribly missed, already.
Sadly, we have also heard that Mary Pyette suffered a “Brain Bleed” and is currently in the hospital in Havre, and is not expected to recover. Mary passed on April 2, 2025. This means that we have lost two icons from our community in a very short time. This Center was a very important part of Mary’s life. She took photographs of nearly all who entered (whether they wanted them or not) and always delivered them back to the people, often on the same day. She too was a quite remarkable woman who did many great things in our community, including being a nurse for the County for many years and coming alongside many who were suffering with cancer. She also helped to organize the “Relay For Life” teams and was a very integral part of that endeavor. As I write this article, many of us are praying for her.
Over the past week we have painted several flower pots, planted them with seeds and are watching them grow, day by day.
We have supported Shore’s Floral and the American Cancer Society, by ordering bundles of Daffodils each and every week that they were offered, as we have all lost someone that we love to cancer or have most assuredly been impacted by cancer.
We have recently been working on painting and then Diamond Dotting happy rocks to place around our community to bring smiles to others. We still have several that need attention, so…..GET IN HERE!
We have Special Music by Gene Allen and friends @ 10:00 on Tues., April 8th. Please come and listen to the wonderful variety of music that they play for our listening enjoyment!
We will have another Acrylic painting class on Wed., April 9th @ 1:00. There will be a small fee to attend, and we would like to know in advance if you will be attending, as we must have enough materials available. This will be a Zion Art painting of the Resurrection.
The scams keep going and people keep talking to these criminals on their telephones, giving out very private information. It is essential that you do NOT take these calls, from people that you don’t know! No-one will ever call you from Medicare! No-one! Do not talk to these people. They are simply CRIMINALS. They are stealing your information for their own benefit and they all need to be locked up! Do NOT answer emails from people claiming to give you a prize. Do NOT answer calls from numbers that you do not recognize. They only want one thing, your information so that they can steal from you!
LUNCH FOR THE WEEK:
Wed., April 9th: Shrimp Stir Fry
Thurs., April 10th: Meatloaf
Fri., April 11th: Fish Fillets
Mon., April 14th: Potato Bacon Soup & Ham Salad Sandwich

WE HAVE CORNHOLE, POOL, COFFEE, COOKIES, TEA, PINOCHLE PARTIES, CRIBBAGE, BINGO, MUSIC, AND A HEART FOR OUR COMMUNITY AND WE WANT FOR YOU TO GET IN HERE!!
Think now, as we get closer to our Resurrection Sunday, about people in our community that you haven’t seen for a while. Reach out. Call them. Stop in to see them. And, as always, BE BLESSED AND BLESS OTHERS
