The Harlem Public Library is hosting The Montana Constitution Road Show, Monday, May 12 at 6:30 P.M. in the library meeting room. The educational presentation celebrates this revolutionary document written in 1972 by 100 delegates from across the state. Sponsored by the nonprofit law firm Upper Seven Law, this free program will talk about the foundations of a functioning democracy, the rule of law, and the way the Montana Constitution brings Montana values to life. Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking evening.
The Book Challenge for May is to read a book with a flower on the cover. We have a lovely selection of titles on display for you to choose from.
The Harlem Public Library and the Blaine County Health Department will be hosting The Stepping On Workshop on Mondays beginning May 19 from 1:30-2:30 P.M. This class is free and can help participants to avoid dangerous and costly falls. The seven-week series will cover: identifying and removing fall hazards; how vision, hearing, medication, and footwear affect the risk of falling; strength and balance exercises; and how to get back on your feet if you do fall. The remaining dates include June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and July 7.
The Harlem Public Library along with other local partners will be celebrating the completion of another school year and the beginning of summer reading on May 22 from 1:00 -3:00 P.M.
The theme for summer reading this year is “Color Our World” and the family friendly kickoff event will include a color walk, messy art projects, music, food and a free movie! Register for summer reading on the south side of the library beginning at 1:00 P.M. After you register start at the corner of Main Street outside the library and follow the color walk with fun stops for art projects, color powder, and community activities. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy and bring sunglasses or eye protection. MAPS Media Insititute will be raffling ten free bikes for youth, with helmets and a safety course included. The Harlem Civic Association will be providing a free meal in the city park at 1:30. Music and other activities will take place at the Day Eagle Hope Project lot next to Little Rockies Apartments. A free movie will be shown at MAPS Media Institute at 3:00 P.M. followed by an open mic night that evening for teens and young adults. Watch for more details to follow.
