The Blaine County Library will be closed Monday May 26th in observance of Memorial Day.
Meadowlark students visited the library this week to learn about the fun activities Carsey has planned this summer! Be on the lookout for information in your child’s backpack. The 2025 Summer Reading Program theme is: “Color Our World”! For 2025, we invite you to embark on a journey of art and creativity, celebrating the myriad ways in which art enriches our lives. The program is designed to inspire and engage readers of all ages through a diverse array of artistic expressions. We will show a movie on Monday afternoons at 1:30 for all ages, children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Teen Scene for grades 7-12 will be Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. We will have karaoke, games and snacks. Tuesdays will be Story Time at 10:30. Wednesday we will have our Summer Reading Program for all ages. We are working on a program for children birth to age 2 and their parents/caregivers. We have tentatively planned this for Thursday mornings, so stay tuned for more on that! If you are interested in that program. Thursday will be LEGO Club at 1:30 for first grade and up. Younger children may attend but they will need to be accompanied by an adult. We are trying something a little different this year. We will have Summer Challenges for the older kids, in addition to keeping track of time spent reading. For every challenge completed and every library program attended, kids can put their names in the prize drawings. For the preschool kids we have an activity challenge as well. Teens and adults are encouraged to participate in our Summer Reading Program as well. For every book you read, you will be able to put your name in for a prize.
We are planning a black light party on Friday May 30th at 1:30. We had a black light party quite a few years ago, and it was a big hit, so we are excited to kick off our Summer Reading Program with one!
We have several novels available this week. The Book Club for Troublesome Women by Marie Bostwick is a humorous, thought provoking, and nostalgic romp through one pivotal and tumultuous American year--as well as an ode to self-discovery, persistence, and the power of sisterhood. My Friends by Fredrik Backman is a funny, deeply moving tale of four teenagers whose friendship creates a bond so powerful that it changes a complete stranger’s life twenty-five years later. Where Rivers Merge by Mary Alice Monroe is the first of two epic and triumphant novels celebrating one intrepid woman’s life across multiple generations in the American South. Nightshade by Michael Connelly introduces readers to Detective Stilwell: a cop relentlessly following his mission in the seemingly idyllic setting of Catalina Island.
