The old expression of "making hay while the sun shines," has turned to "making hay while the water flows." While sunshine is needed to make crops grow so would some good rainfall for the crops.

Water for irrigation began flowing from Fresno Reservoir in late May, but has now been reduced to 100 cubic feet per second, ending the irrigation season early on the Hi-Line, but still enough to provide drinking water for the towns along the Milk River.
