Helen Cornelius "Connie" Green, 95, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025. Cremation has taken place, and a service is not scheduled at this time. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Connie was born April 3, 1930, in Helena, Montana, the eldest of three children born to Clifford John and Louise Kessler McNamara. She attended schools in Big Sandy, Montana and San Rafael, California graduating in 1948. She went on to attend Scripps College in Claremont, California and later graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York with degrees in Sociology and Philosophy.
She returned to Montana and married Lawrence Byron Green on August 22, 1953, and had four children, John, Harry, Shannon, and Stefani. After teaching for a brief period at Big Sandy Grade School, she spent the next several years focusing on being a homemaker and mother.
In 1972, Connie was employed by the Sande Convalescent Home. Two years later she became the Director of Big Sandy Activities Center and was instrumental in establishing and developing a program designed to serve individuals with disabilities. Connie retired in 1995 but remained active in advocating for the elderly and developmentally disabled. She was an avid Big Sandy Pioneer fan and thoroughly enjoyed attending many sporting events with her good friend Doris Gullickson. She was a strong Catholic and active member in the Big Sandy, Box Elder, and Rocky Boy Parishes.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers John and Fred, daughter Shannon, and granddaughter Teonna.
She is survived by her children John, Harry, and Stefani (Doug), seven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
