This spring and into the summer, the Chinook Board of Trustees began the process of addressing lower funding levels following consecutive years of failed levies that have, historically, been authorized by voters to help the school operate. The $115,000 in lost funding normally offset facility and technology related expenses. The school district is also facing a $30,000 cut in Title related funding from the U.S. Department of Education, which covers 1 full-time support staff position. The district’s health insurance premiums increased by 7.8%, which is approximately $50,000 in added costs.
