We've Got The County Covered

Michael Raymon Reid

Michael Raymon Reid was born April 19, 1951, in Rugby, North Dakota. He graduated from Chinook High School in 1969, then began classes at Eastern Montana College in Billings. In 1970 he transferred to the University of Montana in Missoula. Mike graduated with honors in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Parks and Recreation Management. Although Mike finished his formal education in 1975, he never lost his passion for learning. Most nights he could be found on his iPad, keeping up on current events, politics, the latest technological advances, and the occasional conspiracy theory. He was often reminded not to believe everything he saw on YouTube.

Throughout high school and college, Mike worked numerous full and part time jobs at places, such as, several ranches/farms, an oil drilling company, a car dealer, a service station, a grocery store, and at a construction company.

Mike married Jocelyn Floody in 1981. Mike said he knew Jocelyn was "the one" when he brought her home to meet his mom Ruby, and afterwards Ruby said to Mike, "I like her". In 1986, Mike accepted a sales position at Badger Plastics and moved his family to Stevens Point, WI. After 3 decades and becoming a part-owner, Mike retired from Badger Plastics in 2016.

In retirement, Mike liked to stay busy. He enjoyed traveling with Jocelyn, going to places such as, Alaska, England, Iceland, Ireland, and Mexico. He also liked to give back to the community through volunteering. Mike would regularly make deliveries for Meals on Wheels. He served as an usher at Woodlands Church for many years. Mike's faith and relationship with God were extremely important to him. Mike worked as a poll worker for elections and once had an argument with them about not wanting to accept the pay for working. He picked up numerous hobbies, which included things such as panning for gold, metal detecting, trap shooting, reloading ammunition, making paper fire bricks, and trying to keep his lawn as nice as Norb's lawn.

Mike was a "people person", he enjoyed talking to people and learning their stories. He was never afraid to offer a word of wisdom. His family would sometimes roll their eyes because he would ask someone a question that we knew he knew the answer to. His explanation was he did it to give that person a chance to feel good about helping someone out.

Mike is survived by his wife of 44 years Jocelyn. His children: Darren, Kyle, and Colleen. His grandchildren: Loghen, Bishop, Charley, and Camden. His brothers: Ronald, Brian, Barry, and Robert.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Raymon and Ruby, and his sister Patricia.

Mike has left behind a void which is impossible to fill. We find comfort in knowing he now walks hand in hand with Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and one day we shall all be together once more in Heaven.
