We've Got The County Covered

MSU Extension in Blaine County:

Here to Help, Right Where You Are

Living in a rural county means we depend on solid, practical information to make decisions that affect our homes, our land, and our communities. Montana State University Extension provides exactly that. Our role is to bring the resources of Montana’s land grant university directly to Blaine County in ways that meet the real needs of the people who live and work here.

As your local MSU Extension office, we focus on delivering education and support that are research based, useful, and grounded in everyday life. Whether you’re a producer seeking reliable ag updates, a parent raising a busy family, a community member looking for ways to get involved, or a young person exploring new opportunities, Extension is here to help.

Many people first hear about Extension through 4 H. The program gives youth the chance to learn by doing, whether that’s showing livestock, baking bread, completing a shop project, or stepping into leadership roles for the first time. Beyond the projects themselves, what truly matters are the life skills participants develop. Confidence, responsibility, teamwork, and a strong work ethic are common traits of 4 H members. We are proud to support programs that help young people grow into capable, community minded adults.

We work closely to meet the needs of area agriculture producers. We share research and information that support both productivity and long term sustainability. Sometimes that happens at a workshop or field day; other times it’s a one on one conversation to talking through a question. In a place where weather, markets, and margins can all shift quickly, having access to dependable information can make a meaningful difference.

MSU Extension goes far beyond youth and agriculture. Strong, thriving communities depend on many interconnected pieces. We partner with local groups to offer programs in leadership, nonprofit development, health and nutrition, and community vitality. Whether we’re assessing needs, offering a training, or collaborating on a project, our goal is always to strengthen and support the people of Blaine County.

One message I always want to emphasize is that MSU Extension is for everyone. You don’t need to be part of 4 H or any specific program to reach out. If you have a question, an idea, or something you’d like help with, I encourage you to call or stop by. If I don’t know the answer, I will connect you with someone who does.

To stay connected, I’ll be writing a regular newspaper column with updates, program highlights, and timely information you can use in daily life. Be watching for weekly articles on a wide variety of topics that will hopefully be of interest to you.
