Some moisture in late March and early this month has made minor improvements to drought conditions in this part of north-central Montana, but drought conditions persist here and throughout the state, which could impact crops and increase the chance of fires.

The national Drought Monitor map released last Thursday, the latest available, showed only an area in the southwest centered over Missoula, Ravalli and Granite counties and the very eastern edge of the state as being in no drought conditions.
