Life-long Inverness resident Kelly Adams, 67, passed away April 23, 2026, at Logan Health-Chester of natural causes.
Kelly was born June 4, 1958, in Havre to Victor and Mildred Adams. He attended several Hi-Line schools and graduated from Chester High School in 1976, where he excelled in wrestling. After a short time working in Wyoming, he returned home to Inverness and later made his home on “The Ridge,” a Public Lands area south of Joplin- a place that suited his independent spirit and love of the outdoors.
Kelly worked as a farm laborer for various area farmers and Hi-Line elevators throughout his life and was also a seasonal trapper. He was known for his resourcefulness and tinkering- able to take just about anything in the house and turn it into a decent meal or a tool to use, often surprising those around him with what he could make.
He was independent, stubborn, and a little hardheaded at times- traits he passed on to his children. He was often the first one up in the morning with coffee ready, especially after nights when the kids and their friends may have overdone it. Any friend who came through the door could count on being put to work, but also on being fed and treated like family.
He loved the outdoors- hunting, camping, and time spent on the land- but what meant the most to him was time with his three grandsons.
Kelly is survived by his ex-wife, Ellen; his daughter Casady (grandson Sawyer Davis); and his son Kolten (grandsons Manning and Theodore Adams). He is also survived by his brothers Timothy Adams (Lynn) of Ft. Benton and Terry Adams (Christine) of Galilee, PA; his sister Pamala (Marc Brande) of San Diego, CA; his beloved Uncle Zane Adams(Kathy) of Sun Prairie; half-sister Karen Leimkuhler of WA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Sr. and Mildred (Millie) Adams, and his brother Victor Jr.
