Martin Charles Holt burst forth onto life's stage on September 30, 1967, to Marjorie (Baker) and William 'Skip' Holt.
As a young child Martin found himself tagging along with his mum to whatever musical project she was working on at that time. He spent many years listening to music lessons, play practices, and concerts. Though he joked he inherited none of the musical talent his mum had, he wasted no time finding his own way into the spotlight and honing his own extensive talents.
In high school, Martin began to act in school productions, and while he enjoyed it, the acting bug didn't quite have a hold on him just yet. He graduated from Havre High School and enrolled at Concordia College where he went on to receive his Master's in Marine Biology.
After a bit of time on the east coast, he found his way back to Havre where he taught college courses in Fort Belknap before he took a job as a bookkeeper at the Best Western where he worked for 30 years.
Martin poured his creative talents into his community, and his work with the Montana Actors Theater is extensive. He acted in many productions; one of his favorite and most memorable roles was that of Willy Lohman in 'Death of a Salesman'. Beyond his acting he wrote several plays including a musical titled 'Everybody Loves Zombies... Except Ashley" scored by his mother Marge Holt, along with 'Charlie's Aunt', 'Almost Austen or Basically Brontë', and 'Full Monty'.
Beyond the theater he was a well-known and beloved community member who shared his talents writing and acting in several local historical skits for Friends of the H. Earl Clack Museum, and as a beloved Santa Claus to many children.
After a brave and painful battle against cancer, Martin took his final curtain call on May 8th, 2026, surrounded by love. He will be remembered as a man who captivated the attention of whatever room he was in, a man whose wit, talent, and kindness knew no bounds, a loyal friend who was always there when you needed him, and a true legend of his community.
He is preceded in death by his father William 'Skip' Holt, Aunt Elizabeth Baker, and cousin Nick Baker.
He is survived by his mother Marge Holt, his Aunt Kath Kukalowicz, Uncle Graham Clarke; cousin Naomi (Martin) McNally and their children Fionn and Conall; cousin Daniel (Carol) Clarke; cousin Anna (Barry) Coleman and their children Emily, Benjamin, and Oliver; his 'ride or die' bestie Angela Murri and her son Cameron; his MAT family, and countless friends.
A celebration of life open house will be held at Montana Actors Theater on Sunday, May 31st from 2-5 p.m. Memorials may be made out to the 'Martin Holt Medical Fund' at Independence Bank in Havre.
